Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Crescent Bioresearch LLC collects, uses, shares, and safeguards information when you visit our website or place an order with us. We aim to be straightforward about what we collect and why, and to give you meaningful choices about your data.
01Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Crescent Bioresearch LLC ("Crescent", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and safeguards information when you visit www.crescentbioresearch.com (the "Site") or place an order with us. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.
02Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
- Order information: name, shipping address, billing address, email address, phone number (optional);
- Payment information: processed and tokenized by our payment processor; we do not store full credit-card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV codes on our systems;
- Account information: if you create an account, your login credentials and stored preferences;
- Customer-support communications: messages, attachments, and metadata of correspondence with our support team;
- RUO acknowledgment: the timestamp and identity associated with each order's RUO consent at checkout.
- Sign-up and offer-form information: an email address you enter into a sign-up, newsletter, or promotional-offer form, which we receive when you submit the form — including where you do not go on to create an account.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- IP address and approximate geographic location;
- User-Agent string, browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution;
- Pages visited, referring URL, click paths;
- Cookies, browser local storage, and similar technologies (see Section 5).
- Activity signals collected through pixels, tags, and similar measurement technologies embedded in the Site — including pages and products viewed, items added to a cart, forms submitted, sign-ups, and completed orders. These signals are collected both by Crescent and by measurement and advertising partners acting on our behalf, who may combine them with information they already hold and use them to measure and deliver advertising, including on services other than this Site. See Section 5 and Section 9.
C. Information from Third Parties
- Bot- and fraud-detection services: when you create an account or submit certain forms, our challenge provider returns a pass/fail verification result to us;
- Aggregated, anonymised traffic analytics from our hosting provider.
03How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process, fulfill, and ship your orders;
- Communicate with you about orders, shipping status, and customer-support inquiries;
- Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping notifications, certificate-of-analysis bundles);
- Verify identity, prevent fraud, and ensure RUO compliance;
- Improve the Site, our products, and our customer experience;
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations;
- Issue and administer store credit, promotional codes, and other account rewards, including verifying that a reward has not already been issued to the same email address;
- Retain an email address you submit through a sign-up or offer form even if you do not go on to create an account, so that we can contact you about completing it. You may ask us to delete this at any time by emailing support@crescentbioresearch.com;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse of promotional offers;
- With your express consent, send marketing or product-update communications. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
04How We Share Information
We share information only in the following categories of circumstances:
- Service providers: our payment processors, USPS (our shipping carrier), email delivery providers, hosting providers (Cloudflare), and analytics providers, each bound by contractual confidentiality and data-handling obligations.
- Legal compliance: when required by law, subpoena, court order, regulatory investigation, or governmental request.
- Protection of rights: when necessary to enforce our Terms, protect Crescent or third parties from harm, investigate fraud, or address security concerns.
- Business transactions: in the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or other corporate transaction, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction. The acquiring party will be bound by this Policy or an equivalent.
Crescent does not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
05Cookies, Local Storage, and Tracking
The Site uses cookies, browser local storage (including localStorage and sessionStorage), and similar technologies to:
- Maintain shopping-cart state across page navigations;
- Record your research-use acknowledgement so the entry-gate does not reappear on every page;
- Authenticate logged-in users (where accounts exist);
- Generate aggregated, anonymized usage analytics;
- Detect and prevent fraudulent activity.
Local-storage entries are kept entirely within your browser and are not transmitted to Crescent except where you explicitly submit information (e.g., placing an order or submitting the contact form). You can clear them at any time using your browser's site-data controls. Disabling cookies or local storage may break the cart, the checkout flow, and the research-use entry gate.
06Data Retention
We retain personal information for the periods described below, after which we securely delete or anonymize the data:
- Order records
- Seven (7) years — required for U.S. tax and accounting compliance.
- Customer-support records
- Three (3) years from the date of last interaction.
- Account information
- Until account deletion, then thirty (30) days for backup retention.
- Sign-up form information (no account created)
- Twenty-four (24) months from submission, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever is sooner.
- Marketing-list information
- Until you unsubscribe.
- Anonymized analytics
- Indefinitely.
You may request earlier deletion of your information per Section 8, subject to our legal obligations.
07Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including:
- TLS / SSL encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers;
- PCI-DSS-compliant payment processing through accredited third-party processors;
- Role-based access controls limiting employee access to personal information;
- Regular security reviews of our hosting and application infrastructure.
No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. We cannot warrant absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the Site.
08Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Delete your personal information, subject to legal-retention obligations. Due to the nature of laboratory chemicals and reagents (i.e. research compounds), Crescent must retain records identifying what was supplied, to whom, and when. Those records cannot be deleted on request, and are held for the periods set out in Section 6;
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time;
- Receive a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@crescentbioresearch.com. We will respond within thirty (30) days. We may need to verify your identity before honoring requests.
09California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have the additional rights provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), including:
- The right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you, the source of that information, the purpose for collection, and the third parties with whom we share it;
- The right to request deletion of personal information, subject to certain exceptions;
- The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Crescent does not sell personal information for money. However, the Site uses advertising and measurement technologies that transmit activity signals to third-party platforms, and those platforms may use that information to deliver advertising to you on other services. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, that activity may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and you have the right to opt out of it;
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, email support@crescentbioresearch.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share”. We will action the request within fifteen (15) business days and confirm by reply. You may also limit this tracking directly in your browser by rejecting or clearing cookies and local storage.
To exercise CCPA rights, contact support@crescentbioresearch.com.
10Research Use Only
The Site is intended solely for qualified researchers and laboratories. As stated in our Terms of Service, all customers must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, and the Site is not directed to minors. Every product supplied by Crescent Bioresearch is For Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Information you provide is collected in that context: your research-use acknowledgement, and the researcher category you select at the entry gate, are recorded alongside your order so that we can evidence RUO compliance.
11Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the Site or by email to registered users where appropriate.
